Why Should I Pray?

Think of the last time you talked to someone. If it was your mom, you could've been talking about really anything. If it was the checkout lady at a store, it was probably very constructed and impersonal;          "Hi, how are you?"       "Good, you?"       "Good. (or maybe great) Is that all?"       "Yep, have a good day!"       "Have a good day!"  Scripted vs Constructed Prayer      It's weird how often I have used this interaction for most people I greet. Sometimes, it's all that's necessary, and others, something is up with me that day. The way I might want to respond is, "No, it's been a rough day. I've been upset and tired all morning, and I need a hug." (Of course, I don't recommend that you actually say that to a stranger, haha.)      Now that you know what I mean by a "scripted" conversation, think about the last tim...

7 Types of Prayer

Image
I wanted to evaluate different types or parts of prayer that I have been taught, and that I have found in my own time with God. There are great acronyms like A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, and Supplication) that I like, but I wanted my post to be a bit more in-depth with 7 different types.     These help guide me in when I'm unsure of what to pray about, yet more often than not I don't do every single one in one prayer. So, if you use this in a constructed prayer, take these as ideas rather than an agenda. Intercession        If you find out someone needs help, or you feel burdened by those who are struggling, you would probably make an effort to serve them. Whether it be making a meal or donating some money, it is very easy to do something in our own strength. That's something humans really like- being in control.  What would you do if you found out someone had cancer? You -in your own strength- can't help th...

Should I Only Be Friends With Christians?

Friendship      If you are anything like me, you are excited by the thought of hanging out with your friend. Having this type of mindset is typically referred to as being an extrovert, but really everyone enjoys friendship. God created humans to be social creatures, and we rely on relationships to fulfill many needs in life. It could be the care of a mother, the closeness of a sibling, or the emotional guidance of a mentor, either way, God shows His love by providing these things through different people.      Having a friend is also a very important type of relationship. It would make sense to choose your friend carefully, because they will greatly influence you; they could support you in life, pointing you to God, or tear you down, encouraging sin.      Yet, Jesus broke bread with sinners, didn't He? So, is it a bad idea to become close to someone who doesn't follow Jesus? Iron Sharpens Iron     I have gone to public high s...

I'm Gonna Write A Blog?!

Hello!      I've always enjoyed typing, yet I've never been able to finish a novel.  And a pproximately half an hour ago, I became inspired by the " Little Faith Blog ", which you should check out.  So when I stumbled upon Jenny's Little Faith Blog, I realized there was a perfect solution to my need to write; blogging.      Acadia, you can't just decide to write a blog out of nowhere! What will this even be about?     Very good question, reader.  After pondering a couple hobbies, I realized there was only one thing I could truly talk about for hours on end, and that was God. Or His Word. I plan on doing so here! Before I can mention the little details, I have a story. Why Jesus?     I went into a public high school after being home-schooled for middle school, which as one can imagine, was a bit of a shock. I had grown up in public school, and I had non-christian friends, so I knew what to expect, but some things sti...
